I think the most important “why” of all times is “why are we here?/how did this start?”. This question should receive wayyyy more attention and it’s kind of scary that no one really knows what we’re doing here and what’s our purpose (collectively). It’s crazy to think that relatively little time ago (compare with the age of universe 13billion), we thought that the human specie was the centre of this all, if we were put down here with a global purpose or a reason of “why we are here” would this even made sense? Probably not. But knowing that almost everyone out here is trying to find its “why” comforts me a lot, all “why’s” are much more important than “what’s” in my opinion, that’s why all “why’s” are personal and subjective (sorry for the amount of “why’s” ahah), that’s how important you are! You are separated from the entire universe at the same time you are here to unable the divine purpose of the universe to unfold.
Big Bang
A question that many times comes when we try to question the Big Bang theory is “Why, and how, did the universe come to exist from nothing?”. The universe is almost inconceivably big (possibly infinite), so how could it have come from such a state. Also, if we posit some kind of preexisting universe (or black hole) then we come up against the question of where THAT came from, so the question of something from nothing never completely goes away. For something that is potentially infinite in extent, nothingness is an excellent candidate for a preexisting state. That is because nothingness, by its very nature, should have no limit or extent, or else it would be something rather than nothing.
1) there is nothing else to create the universe but itself (because it came from nothing).
2) the universe EXISTS. Existence, as we know it in this universe, consists of a what, a where and a when. i.e. space, time and complexity. So the universe should be capable of making its own space, time and complexity.
God
Around 40% of the humanity believes that god created the universe, it’s much likely related with the fact that the majority (or even totality) of religious people believe in a god(s) and therefore that he was the creator of everything (you can also read about religion in my essay ). I do believe that exists a higher power, not sure if I would classify it as a “god”. God is the collective mind's response to a natural, primitive, instinctive fear of the unknown that causes a sense of loss of control. Any loss of control real or imaginary causes stress. The symbol and knowledge gap filler "God" brings a sense of peace by returning a sense of understanding and control (however irrational or unevidenced/ flawed circularly evidenced it may be!).
The universe is full of things you don’t know, and may never know. Each person in the world knows at least one thing that you (or I) don’t. Each person is a little universe, through which some rather extraordinary creativity can flow. So when we try to evoke one random person we need to evoke the entire universe.
Conclusion
I think there is a big problem with science trying to justify some of the most fundamental questions of our existence as a specie. Only in the last ~80 years significant scientific progress was made, if we look back in time, some of the most important scientific discoveries (e.g electricity) took thousands of years to totally understand its effect in a daily basis. The truth is that the scientific discoveries pace is quite slow (ofc amazing either way!), and that’s why religion its sooo useful (know I’m probably contradicting myself, good sign ahah), religion gives people answers RIGHT NOW, most people (if not all) are impatient. We know that our time here is limited (perhaps even short, talk to another time), people don’t want to wait for getting answers.
“Religion is for stupid people”
This is a very famous quote from someone I don’t exactly remember ahah. I think in a way I do agree with this quote. Most religious fundamentalist are stupid (sorry y’all, nothing against you), if we look at the most “evil” killers, they were all religious, they used their own religion to justify horrifying homicides. That’s why religion can be so dangerous, everyone perceive religion the way they want (god is within) and act upon that perception. Religion in the past was a way to basically.
